Managers Post Hamilton
Saturday, 9th Feb 2008Macca:- "He definitely kicked his own heel. Two or three of them said it was never a penalty but
Jim McIntyre thought the 13th minute penalty decision was a turning point in the match, he did not think that it was a penalty:-
"He definitely kicked his own heel. Two or three of them said it was never a penalty but that's the break.
"We were playing well and had good chances. I have said it before how vital it is to take your chances when they come along, especially one on one. The good thing from our point of view is that the boys are getting in there but we need to start being a wee bit more clinical.
"Hamilton broke very well but at the end of the day goals change games. We miss a chance and they go up the park and score. It gives teams lift. We get another chance and we don't take that and they go up the park and score again."
Asked if the 20 point margin between Dunfermline and Hamilton was too much of a gap to make up, the Manager said:-
"It would take a pretty spectacular collapse from Hamilton and an almighty run from us but we are only looking at catching the team in front of us. We take it game by game. That's what we have been doing since I took over because we were so far back. That will not change."
Jim would be looking to bounce back next Saturday when Ian McCall brings his side to East End Park:-
"Thistle are a decent side but you are looking to win all your home games, that's for sure."
Hamilton Manager, Billy Reid felt that it was a good result over what he described as a good Dunfermline side.
"For the first 15 to 20 minutes it was a fantastic game with both teams going for it. They had chances, big Brian Easton cleared one off the line and Bryn has made a great save at one nil. So you know we knew we were in a game. I thought some of our play was fantastic. I asked my players to be on the money. We passed the ball and made real good chances.
"The second half was every bit as important for me. We killed the game professionally - you know we have a lot of young players and it is important that we do that. Even then we still had the commitment to go and pass the football, open them out and make the park big. I thought we were brilliant.
"The new stand is going to go up and those plans have been in place for the last five or six weeks. That will be in place. In terms of the surface I cannot comment on that at the moment, I don't think anything is set in stone.I can only deal with matters that is on the field.
"I did an interview with Radio Clyde just before the game today and they asked me 'does this Club want to get promotion?'
"I laughed at that because this Club has been geared for promotion for the last two years in terms of its infrastructure with young players coming through. That is another stepping stone on the way to it.
"I'm not silly, there are 12 games to go. Ok we are seven points clear but there is a lot of football to play between now and the end of the season."
