Danny Murphy is on loan to Dunfermline from Motherwell but he returned to Fir Park on Sunday to pay tribute to Club Captain Phil O'Donnell who died tragically on Saturday.  Dunfermline Athletic join Danny in expressing their shock and sadness of such a loss to Scottish Football.  Our thoughts are with his family and many friends in the game.

Danny was unaware of the sudden death of Phil O'Donnell when he spoke to the media after Dunfermline's match against Stirling Albion.

Danny Murphy is the latest in a line of players who have all backed Jim McIntyre's managerial role to be made permanent. The young Englishman knows that results have improved but cannot single out what has changed since Stephen Kenny's departure on 4th December:-

"Maybe formation, maybe a combination of things - it is hard to put your finger on it really. We did play some decent football before Stephen sadly got the sack but we were due to beat someone really and give someone an absolute pummelling. We haven't had the chance to do it but we still look like we are going to do it now. It could be a combination of things why we are playing a lot better than what were.

"Macca is a very nice person I have a lot of time for him and he seems to have brought the best out of the players. If he gets the job I think the players will respond very well to him.

"I think if another Manager comes in he is going to have to assess the whole thing again and might have to go through players, check them all out again and it could be the same thing as when Stephen joined last year. With someone who knows all the players now, he knows what he needs and what he has to do."

The 25 year old who is on loan from Motherwell would not take too much from the league table:-

"We are not looking at the other boys in the table, we want to play better than what we have been playing and we know we can play a lot better. If you start looking at other things it gives people false hopes like winning the league. Realistically we have to just concentrate on winning every game as it comes.

"If we can do that then we still have a great chance on getting up there but we have to concentrate on winning the games that we have got at the moment."

Danny is due to return to Motherwell on 7th January and currently he is uncertain whether or not Mark McGhee wants him back. He feels he fits in well at East End Park and would be happy to stay:-

"It is something we have to sort out between me and Mark and Dunfermline."
