Stephen Simmons Post Stirling

"People have been doubting us and flagging us but that happens in football and we can rise above that. We showed a fighting spirit there and against Morton.

Stephen Simmons was happy with his first league goal of the season:-

"I was getting anxious because I was getting into the box all the time but it didn't seem to be dropping for me. Finally Michael has drilled it in, I never even saw it coming across. It took a deflection and I just had to lean for it and I put it in. I was glad to see it going in because I have not scored for a while. Hopefully I will get a few more.

"It gave us a two goal cushion but they came out in the second half with nothing to lose. We managed to hang in there with the fighting spirit that we have got.

"They had a few chances in the first half as well. I know a few of their players, they are a good side and Allan Moore has done well with them."

Stephen agreed that possibly earlier in the season Dunfermline might have thrown that win away:-

"Possibly but there is a togetherness in there. Everybody wants to fight for each other, throw themselves in front of things, block things - it showed today and it showed against Morton as well.

"Paul Gallacher has been brilliant for us. He made a couple of great saves today and he had a couple of great saves on Wednesday there. He kept us in the game and kept us ahead. He has been doing great and all credit to him as well but it is a team game and everybody was involved.

"Not a lot has changed but there seems as if there is a togetherness because a lot of people were against us. It has brought us closer together and we are fighting for each other. I think that shows by the way we are fighting and battling all the way to the end.

"People have been doubting us and flagging us but that happens in football and we can rise above that. We showed a fighting spirit there and against Morton.

"I can't say that he is too far away. We have not been beaten in five and that's three games on the bounce that we have won. we are not playing our best but we are getting results and that's what counts. Nobody looks at how well you have played, it's about three points at the end of the day. We have got them n the last three games.

"It is hard for Jim because he cannot stamp his authority on it until he gets it. He probably wants to do more than he is doing but he needs to watch himself a bit and think of hat he is saying because he could be back to a player tomorrow. He has already told us that. He is doing a great job just now and hopefully it continues until something is sorted out."
