"When you are second bottom when you take over it is all about taking it game to game and getting some confidence going.

After his fifth match undefeated Jim McIntyre was naturally very pleased with his charges victory over Stirling Albion:-

"It's an excellent three points considering that we didn't play at all well today. We dug in and got the breaks with some great saves from Paul Gallacher but the spirit is there for everybody to see.

"When you are caretaker you take it game to game.  When you are second bottom when you take over it is all about taking it game to game and getting some confidence going."

Did Jim think that his time has come to move into football management:-

"It is always something that I have seen as a natural progression whether here or somewhere else when I am a wee bit older, if you like, then time will tell.

"You are looking for players to take responsibility in terms of their training and on the pitch. If it's not happening; your team mates not doing it they need to get told by your other team mates. It is not a case of falling out with each other, it is just demanding that the standards get lifted."

By the end of the match with all three substitutes committed it was virtually nine men that were left:-

"Scottie (Morrison) was struggling so I had to drop back into left midfield.  I don't know if Tam McManus pulled his hamstring with five to go. The two of them were like the walking wounded. It was just a case of camping in.  Fair play to Stirling, they deserved more than they got but football can be a cruel game at times but we will take everything we can get because the effort, the commitment was fantastic from the players.

"Everybody in the dressing room knows that we didn't play well and that is something we have to work on."

Jim expects a decision on the managerial appointment after the match against Livingston on Wednesday:-

"After the Livvy game they have talked about meeting up and I think it is important to everybody that it is decided then."

Did Jim feel that it might be hard if the decision was not made soon and that he might eventually end up back as a player?

"If it went on for a longer period of time then yes but at the moment it has been made easy.  The players have been different class but I think if that continued, yes it would be difficult in the long run.  I think the Board are going to make a decision soon."

JIm McIntyre is comfortable that he has done as much as he could have done to be selected for the Manager's position:-

"I don't think that I could have done much more to be honest, apart from fifteen out of fifteeen" he added with a smile.

"The boys have been great and shown me a lot of support.  That's been appreciated.  Maybe if I get made Manager they might start falling out with me but at the moment they have been different class and that's all you can ask."
