Gall needs New Year resolution
Saturday, 22nd Dec 2007"At this moment in time I will be going back to Norwich on the first but we want to do a deal to remain here. I was under the impression that it was going to be a loan deal but it has yet to be decided ..
Paul Gallacher has had talks about continuing at Dunfermline after his current loan deal ends on 1st January. The 28 year old Norwich City keeper has been at East End Park since August and is keen to remain there but some decisions will soon need to be made to either extend his loan deal or make him a permanent fixture at the Fife club.
"We have been in negotiation for some time now, even last night I took some phone calls. I want to get a deal done; there are a lot of mixed messages at the moment. I am in the dark and it changed again last night."
The Glasgow born keeper is extremely happy to be given the opportunity to play first team football with Dunfermline and wants to repay Jim Leishman for getting him that opportunity and the fans for sticking by him.
"At this moment in time I will be going back to Norwich on the first but we want to do a deal to remain here. I was under the impression that it was going to be a loan deal but it has yet to be decided and basically we are running out of time. I want to get it done as soon as I can; I am enjoying my time, enjoying my football and I am happy at the moment."
Looking back at the win over Queen of the South Paul thought that his team dominated the game and played some fantastic football.
"Our fitness looked great, we were buzzing from start to finish. I made important saves to keep us in the game but if we didn't got the three points today we would have been bitterly disappointed because I felt we were on top for most of it.
"It took a bit of time to get the killer second goal and we could take our foot off the pedal a bit nearer the end of the game. We could pass the ball, keep possession and see the game out. I thought we did that well."
The luck that has been missing in the earlier part of the season certainly seemed to be present and on the Pars keeper's side:-
"I touched it on to the bar. I had it in my hands for a minute and it was slipped away and I was falling in the net so I had to push it on to the bar. I think we deserved the three points, they were vital and on top of that I thought it was a good performance."
After nine games without a win Paul was delighted to register the win over Queen of the South:-
"Of course it is great to get the victory, I think it has been a long time coming. Since the Manager lost his job, Macca has been installed and he is getting that ethic back of hard work, getting the fitness up and I think it showed. I have said in the past two games that we have been really at it. From start to finish we have worked really hard and actually playing for each other.
"Obviously we didn't get the results we deserved in the last two matches but there are definitely positive signs that we haven't lost in three now. We have to build on that."
Paul is confident that Jim McIntyre could do a job as Manager of Dunfermline Athletic:-
"He is a great lad, he is one of the boys, he is a great character but he has his own ideas and involved in training. He has definitely got us much fitter and much sharper. He has brought a bit of fun back to the football club. That is no disrespect to Stephen Kenny; he is a good manager and has a great record and won a lot of things in Ireland and brought me to the club. He has given me a chance of first team football, that was fantastic but that is in the past now. Jim McIntyre is in charge until we hear otherwise and he has lifted the place.
"It is not for me to decide but Jim is doing an excellent job. I would be all for him to get the job. If it is to be somebody else we will give it 100%, the players will give it everything."
