"There has been a lot of negativity about the place for a long time and that is not just going to turn right away. We are going to give them something to cheer ..

Jim McIntyre was a happy man after seeing his injury hit team record their first home league win since September:-

"We knew today that if we won we would go above Queen of the South, that was the objective. To take it one game at a time at the minute, we got the victory that I thought the boys thoroughly deserved.

"It was comfortable, especially first half we were always in the ascendancy. We were getting lots of crosses into the box, Burchy had a good chance which the keeper made a good save from. We played the game in their half which was the game plan. Second half obviously there was going to be a bit of pressure in the game but it is how we handled that. We handled it really well.

"Paul Gallacher had a great save at 1-0 which was a big moment in the game but apart from that they never really had another chance."

Again asked if he was in contention for the managerial vacancy, Macca replied:-

"You will need to ask the Chairman that. I have not applied but have expressed an interest definitely. He has told me to look after things in the short term, that's exactly what I have been doing. I am thoroughly enjoying it. The boys have been a delight to work with. I said last week about their application and their attitude in training. It has been superb so as a coach or a manager that is all that you can ask for - them to go out and knock their pan in for you. They have done that.

"There have been a lot of boys who have not played a lot of football in a long time being thrown straight back in because we are limited with injuries. They have done superb."

What did Jim make of Nick Phinn's first goal for the club at senior level?

"Wee Nicky has been on the periphery of the first team this season. He has been in and out but he has definitely got talent. He has a good footballing brain and it was a top finish. A great disguised pass from Stephen Glass that put it on a plate for him but he has been different class."

What is like being a player and yet a caretaker?

"At the end of the day they know that it is a hard position to be in because I could have to go back to be a player. They understand but at the end of the day they are taking on board most of the things that I am after and applied themselves excellently."

Have you changed much as Manager?

"A few grey hairs I think! You have got to be a little more ruthless in the approach to the team shall I say. You pick a team you think can win the game and obviously you are picking players who are your team mates as well. That can be a difficult bit to it but it is part of the job and that's what I want to do."

Is there a great sense of relief that you have done it for the fans today?

"They have not had a lot to cheer in recent months especially at home. They have seen a couple of big hammerings at home so you always want to make your own place a bit of a fortress if you like. It takes time for that to happen. You always want to win your home games and give them a lift because they are all important as well.

"There has been a lot of negativity about the place for a long time and that is not just going to turn right away. We are going to give them something to cheer, the boys did that today and the fans were excellent."

Is this the turning point today?

"Well I would like to think so. OK that's two draws but we have only been together for three weeks so I would like to think it will be a turning point. It is something to build on, that's for sure, whether it's a turning point time will tell."

Queen of the South Manager, Gordon Chisholm told the post match media conference:-

"Paul Gallacher had a couple of saves. There was the one off Stephen Dobbie and one off John O'Neill with the header, a couple of great saves, important saves.

"I thought the first half we were really poor. The second half we came out and I genuinely thought we were going to get an equaliser.

"Their first goal was free header and the second goal in my eyes was just bad defending. After the second goal I couldn't really see us coming back. It was a real killer."
