Stephen Simmons Post Dundee
Sunday, 2nd Dec 2007"The fans aren't happy obviously, they have every right to be but I don't think getting on the players backs, even though they are frustrated, they need to come and support us.
Stephen Simmons talked about Saturday's defeat from Dundee:-
"I'm gutted, I thought we put everything into it 100% off everybody. They got a chance and took it, I didn't think there was much in the game. When you are on a run like we are on just now it doesn't go for you. We have got to keep our heads up and just get on with it."
It appeared that the Dundee players took strength from the home fans getting at their own team:-
"The fans aren't happy obviously, they have every right to be but I don't think getting on the players backs, even though they are frustrated, they need to come and support us. They need to shout for us, not against us. I know that they are frustrated but we are trying our best to get results for them. Maybe it is a factor that gives the other team a lift if they are shouting against their own team. They are not happy for a reason and that's because we are not winning games."
Did Stephen feel that this was getting to the players and was it hurting to be booed off the park?
"We have had it for a while now, it's not nice but they are booing for a reason and they are obviously not happy. They have a right to their own opinion and that's what they do. It doesn't wear us down, it doesn't make us try any less. We are not trying to get beat every game. I thought we were better against Dundee, there was much more effort today we made us hard to beat.
"Everybody keeps saying next week will be the turning point this and that, the cup final will be the turning point but it doesn't seem to be coming. We can't get down about it, we just have to keep our heads up and keep fighting because it is not going to be easy getting three points. Only the team can do it and we have to do it ourselves.
Has the Manager 100% backing of all the dressing room?
"Yes I think so, you saw on Saturday there was 100% effort from everybody. The commitment was there, maybe a little bit of quality was lacking. Maybe the boys are nervous because we know that we haven't won in a while. We are behind the gaffer because I think we showed there, we were very committed - they got their chance and took it."
