"Stephen's a very good manager and he will get things right. You can't blame everything on the manager. You have to hold your hands up sometimes.

Not the kind of debut you would have wished for?

"It was disappointing. Frustrating really because we started off the game so well but to concede a goal at a crucial part of the game made things difficult.  If we'd gone in at half time 0-0 we'd have fancied our chances coming out second half because we were actually playing quite well first half.

"We created a good few chances and maybe these chances change games. If you finished those chances at the beginning of the game and not concede the one five minutes before half time.

"It was kind of frustrating then to concede one just after second half a goal which can only be described as, well I don't really know how to describe it.  It just kind of went downhill from there."

How was everyone in the changing rooms after the game?

"Everyone's disappointed. You've got to give 100% every game and I think the boys did do that. It just didn't work for us. They were a better team once they went 1-0 up, we didn't look like we were going to come back with anything. We needed to roll up our sleeves a bit more and dig in a bit harder but it just didn't happen for us."

Is it difficult for you to come into a situation like this?

"It's not difficult for me to come in because hopefully I can try to liven the boys up, try and get things going, get a few wins going. Stephen's a very good manager and he will get things right.  You can't blame everything on the manager.  You have to hold your hands up sometimes.

"The goals that we conceded, as a team, were bad and they shouldn't have been conceded so we need to look at ourselves really as well and not blame everything on the manager.  You've got to look at yourselves and say, look we could have stopped this in certain places on the pitch at times in the game.

Are the players taking responsibility for what they're doing??????

"The manager can't do much while the game's going on, can he?  He can make decisions on the sideline and try to tell you what to do, but at the end of the day there's eleven players on the pitch who have to, we have to do it ourselves.

"Me, myself as well, I could have done things that could have stopped goals from going in. There's lots of people who could have stopped things from happening, you can't blame everything on one person.

"There's eleven people actually out there on the pitch who need to say, look we need to look at ourselves and go in tomorrow and have a chat about ourselves.

The second goal seemed to sum things up for you but that's what happens when you're in the position Dunfermline are in.

"I've been in that position before, with QPR. It's not easy to get out of.  You need to roll your sleeves up and say, it doesn't matter what happens we're going to do our best to get out of the situation.

"We may not play well, but it's not about playing well, it's about winning games.  I don't care how the ball gets up the other end of the pitch as long as you score goals and win games and don't concede and that's what we need to do."

Have you noticed that the squad is down in training?

"No. The boys are very bubbly, very lively compared to the boys from Motherwell. They're different completely. Once the goals went in it's hard.

"Myself, I think I did it a couple of times in the game. It's hard, you make silly mistakes that you wouldn't make if you were 2-0 up in a game.  When you're up in a game you don't make those mistakes and you play a lot better."
