Stephen Kenny gave his thoughts on the team's worst defeat under his charge:-

"We said that we had worked hard for the wins that we had and kept three clean sheets. We had only conceded eight goals in the previous nine games, to concede five in one game is hard to believe really.

"There was very poor defending for the goals. They were very poorly defended, just mistakes. The first two goals in particular and the fourth. Sol has got dispossessed as he came out with the ball; it was a poor error. Then the second one as well was a poor header; he left the header short. Offiong's goal was a great goal, he hit it tremendously well.

The second Hamilton goal

"I have never had a home defeat like that in my life, 5-0. Obviously it leaves a very poor feeling. In my second match in charge here we got beaten 5-1 away to Kilmarnock but that was away from home when we were struggling. Kilmarnock were really flying at the time.

"Mistakes to go 2-0 down after the first quarter of the game were just a disaster for us. The manner of the two goals; very poor goals from our point of view. Hamilton absolutely deserved their win, no question about it, they were much better on the day.

"The Manager has to take the flack when you lose like that. There is no hiding from that. I have never had such a result at home in a game. I thought we prepared quite well for the game to be honest. We hadn't been fluent in the way we have been playing in the last few weeks but we have been very sound defensively. We had to battle our way out of trouble but the goals we conceded you wouldn't see them in any game.

"It is a bad defeat, I can't deny that and we let a lot of people down today. To lose at home like that is a very poor defeat.

"We won our last three games and we looked like we were fighting for each other. There were a couple of body blows today. Every time Hamilton attacked they scored. I don't think we have defended quite like that where the goals are gifted.

"Hamilton capitalised, I am not trying to take anything away from them and finished them well but they were absolute gifts.

"It is ten games into the season, we are fifth in the league - it's not where we want to be. We have to make sure that we prepare well for Stirling next week and try and get an away win."

Hamilton Manager, Billy Reid was naturally overjoyed with his side's performance:-

"That was exceptional. Right from the first minute, I felt we got the ball down and passed it. We pressed them all over the park and we were a team. We know that we have good players but we showed today how hard we work as a team. That's what got us the victory today."

The happy Hammy would not argue with the suggestion that was his finest hour as a manager:-

"Without a doubt, right from the first minute until the last we were brilliant from one to eleven. The subs came on and played their part as well. Richard Offiong upfront was virtually unplayable at times. His goal was fantastic and we kept another clean sheet. It is testimony to how hard they work at the back as well. The young guys in the middle of the park, McCarthy, McArthur and Alex Neil.

"All credit to the players I can only put them on the park. They are great to work with and they work really really hard for me. Dunfermline supporters showed their appreciation at the end for how well we played, they clapped us off the park and they clapped Richard Offiong's goal which was sensational. That just tells you everything."

Hamilton's away strip had potential for embarrassment but they were worthy models of the yellow shirts and blue shorts:-

"When we decided to go with the Brazil strip we said that could come back to haunt us but we were Hamilton Accies out there. At times I thought our play was great. I am ecstatic with the performance.

"We have belief in what we are doing but we are not going to get carried away. It is just after the first quarter; Dundee have won today, St Johnstone have won so there are big clubs wanting to overtake us."

Billy Reid was pleased that his team's away form silenced the criticism of the plastic surface at New Douglas Park:-

"It comes up on you week in week out that the park gives us an unfair advantage but whether on that surface or on that park out there you hve to get the ball down, play and pass it. I think we showed today that we can do that."
