Jim McIntyre Post Partick
Sunday, 30th Sep 2007"When you are part of any team and results are not going in your favour you want to help out.
Jim McIntyre made his season debut when he replaced Tam McManus ten minutes from the end of Saturday's Irn Bru SFL match.Having recovered from a torn calf muscle he gave his thoughts after the match:-
"It is great to be back playing football; it has been a frustrating three months.I tried to come back a couple of times but it just wasn't ready and that delayed it.I did it two days before the start of pre season, timing was terrible but I was doing too much."
The 35 year old claimed it had been a hard job sitting on the sidelines watching the team failing to pick up points:-
"When you are part of any team and results are not going in your favour you want to help out. I thought we dug in great today in the type of game we have drawn or lost before. It is just important to get three points on the board and give that springboard and confidence."
"I have only started training last week so I was not expecting much for the next month because there are not any reserve games where you can get games to build up.Basically for me it is just about getting into the way of things.
"For eight months I had a serious neck injury last year and to do a calf muscle that I had never done before just before the season starts wasn't good timing."
Jim has only started 10 matches since joining the Pars from Dundee United in the summer of 2006 and his introduction against the Jags was his fifth appearance off the bench.
"I have been pitched back in because we have some horrendous injuries; boys are playing out of position everywhere.I am just glad to be back playing.
"You can't bleat on about injuries all the time.Players at other clubs get injuries and survive. We have a big enough squad and we should be doing better.Hopefully today is a wee stepping stone."
Jim would welcome a game on Tuesday against Ayr United:-
"If the Manager selects me then great it's a chance to get a bit more fitness and work out.Hopefully we can get a couple of bounce games arranged because there are two or three of us who have been out for a wee while. It is hard trying to pick the pace up when you are not getting any games."
His team mates were praised by Macca, starting with Mark Burchill:-
"He did well considering he was off for most of the week with the flu.It was a great goal; Burchy is one in the team with great pace, it was a great finish.I thought Jim Hamilton was excellent as well to win nearly every header and link play for us."
