Stephen Kenny Post Hearts
Wednesday, 26th Sep 2007"To concede a goal from a corner is hard. We rarely concede from
youthful energy. Three of them were making their debuts and they played very well."
On the team performance & penalty:
"We played well. Hearts looked dangerous in the first ten minutes but then Gallacher
had no saves to make for the rest of the first half, apart from the penalty. It was
a penalty though, I'm not denying that."
On the chances:
"Hearts had chances, but we had chances ourselves. Tam hit the post, Stephen scored.
And right at the end, there's a ball across goal. Jim Hamilton was pulled down.
That's a penalty. It is hard for the referees, but the players all say it was
definite."
On the scoreline:
"To concede a goal from a corner is hard. We rarely concede from set pieces. We're
disappointed. Four-one flatters Hearts, without a shadow of a doubt. We played some
good football."
On the youngsters:
"McBride came out of nowhere. I only told him he was playing just before the game.
We've got severe injury problems and I wanted to increase my options."
On the injuries:
"We've got a lot of players out of position at the moment. Greg Shields and Scott
Wilson will be back soon hopefully. Three out of our regular back four are out but I
expect to have eight players all available again within two weeks."
On Calum Woods:
"We can't really say he's a discovery exactly, since he was at Liverpool and he
played last season, but he's really upped his level of performance and could become
a regular. He's never really played centre-back, he plays right-back or left-back,
but Sol and Calum were our only fit defenders. He's done well for us."
Overall:
"We're disappointed to lose the game. It was a good performance."
