Calum Woods challenges Dougie Imrie
With Dunfermline players given the weekend off, Calum Woods headed home to Liverpool to see friends and family. The 20 year old was happy to have been selected to start the last two Dunfermline matches and hopeful that the emphatic win over Clyde will get the Pars back on track:-
"It was a definitely good win, 4-1. I thought we played some good stuff and our attacking play was good. They had a few chances to score as well, it could have been 4-4. All the build up play for all our goals was good.
"I have played two games now this season and I am really enjoying playing again. Hopefully I can take the opportunity, I will just work hard, build on my game and do well when I get a chance to play."
The chance to play is heightened by injuries to Scott Muirhead, Scott Morrison, Scott Thomson and Greg Shields. Calum who joined Dunfermline from Liverpool in July last year looks forward to bettering his 10 starts from last season.
"I feel we should have beaten St Johnstone last week but after beating Clyde with a big win that will boost our confidence again. I am very pleased it is a big lift for me."
Calum couldn't believe the shot from Clyde's Dougie Imrie that his own keeper had to save. Referee Willie Collum awarded an indirect free kick as he deemed this a pass back.Calum commented:-
"I didn't think it was a pass back because it was unbelievable how hard he hit it and the keeper caught it."
While south at the weekend Calum is hoping to see Adam Hammill who was on loan last season to Dunfermline but is currently on loan to the Saints of the Football League Championship:-
"Adam seems to be enjoying Southampton but he got a little injury and so hasn't been playing" explained Calum, highlighting the fact that Adam's two appearances so far have come as a substitute and his minutes on the park in his two games against Palace and Norwich, only total 45.
At least, for the time being, Calum is well ahead on match experience this season.
