Stephen Kenny Post Clyde
Thursday, 6th Sep 2007"We played some great stuff as well, retained possession really well and had a cutting edge in our play. All four goals were a result of good team play and interchanges; really clever goals...
"It was an open game; real end to end stuff. The 4-1 scoreline is not justice. Clyde have a lot of pace in their team and physically are quite strong. They break quickly.
"We passed the ball really well but physically we probably had quite a small team and we struggled to defend set pieces once or twice in the first half. We possibly could have been two down before we scored.
"We played some great stuff as well, retained possession really well and had a cutting edge in our play. All four goals were a result of good team play and interchanges; really clever goals - they were very well worked.
"Clyde came back at us and it was a frenetic game with chances at both ends, it was end to end and the score probably flattered us in the end. We looked like we had plenty of goals in us the way we were set up. We were very open as well for the other team to have a go at us. With three front players and two wingers we were set up in a very attacking way but were susceptible to counterattacks.
"We showed a lot of ability and good play but Clyde did too, it was that kind of game - very enterprising.
"We probably got a bit of luck tonight that we didn't get in other games because we seem to be doing OK in games, not really under pressure but then concede a penalty and have a man sent off. It has been deja vu this season when we have had three players sent off for a professional foul and red carded. That has been a problem for us and hopefully that's finished. Normally you get one or two of them in a season but we just had them all in the space of two weeks.
"We had a lot of chances in the game against St Johnstone at the weekend but we didn't score. We managed to score four tonight - we were a bit more clinical.
"They all did well, Mark Burchill scored two. Owen Morrison's finish at the end was a result of good teamwork.
"We are not talking our selves up about winning the trophy, we are into the quarter finals and we will see who we get in the draw. The league is very important to us and we have Dundee next who are probably a lot of people's favourites for the league the way it has started.
"The players who have come in like Bobby Ryan haven't played through injury, and some of the players who have come in have played very well. Sean Murdoch gives us a bit of competition for places."
