Preview Stirling Albion
Tuesday, 21st Aug 2007The record shows that Dunfermline have had the upper hand in league matches against Stirling Albion but not by much.
One might have thought that opening home fixtures against the two teams who were in Division Two last season might have been the easiest start to the league campaign but Morton have already proven that to be the wrong assumption. Stirling Albion are the next visitors but Stephen Kenny who was one of the 1538 interested spectators at Forthbank last Saturday will have seen that the Binos are not to be underestimated.

As a morale booster a victory is almost imperative for the Pars and it would be a welcome boost ahead of the UEFA Cup match in Gothenburg. Albion too will be in search of their first league win before they face SPL Hearts in the CIS Insurance Cup next Tuesday.

Dunfermline will be without Sol Bamba through suspension but Stephen Glass can return. There could be places for Captain Scott Thomson and Phil McGuire but Tam McManus will almost certainly miss the game against Stirling Albion with bruised ribs. Scott Muirhead is also out with a broken metatarsal. Disappointingly following his strong performance off the bench on Sunday, Nick Phinn could be out for up to six weeks after twisting an ankle in training on Tuesday. The Pars injury list appears to grow unfortunately with those just listed joining longer term wounded Roddy McKenzie, Jim McIntyre, Bobby Ryan and Greg Ross.
Referee for the match will be 36 year old Stephen Finnie. Last time he was in charge of a Pars match was at Motherwell on the last day of March. The Pars lost 2-0 and Gary Mason, Phil McGuire, Scott Morrison and Greg Shields were booked in a total of seven yellow cards.
C`mon Ye Pars!
