Tear jerker for Scott

"The first quarter of an hour to twenty minutes they were being nice to us!

Scott Thomson admitted that it had been a very emotional night for him:-

"Yes, I had a wee tear in my eye when I came off and I could see some of the family as well sitting up there. It was good though.

"The main thing for me, don`t get me wrong - I am very happy with the team that Sir Alex sent up it was brilliant for me but now I am looking to get back playing in Dunfermline`s first team and doing what I do best.

“The first quarter of an hour to twenty minutes they were being nice to us! Then I think they had a wee argument amongst themselves and then they seemed to pick it up after that. Ryan Giggs and Rooney were just going in holes and me and Bamba were not sure to go with them or not and they were just picking passes. If you let people let that have time on the ball and pick passes they are going to hammer you and that is what they did."

How did it feel for Bamba and Nipper to deal with Rooney and Giggs?

"I said `I`ll take the slow one` but in the end I was just saying `Bamba you take the two of them and I will just stand spare`" joked Nipper. "It was surreal, they were good lads they talked away during the game. I think that`s what put me off for the first goal.

“They were great lads. I went to Keavil House today and met them after their flight up. When they came off their bus they took time and spoke away to me and said `congratulations and hope you have a good night`. They were really good."
