"I know supporters talk about bragging rights and these things are important but the game had no relevance for us. We were relegated and we had to accept that quickly. Hurtful as it is we have to prepare for next week.

"Adam Hammill obviously is away and the other four lads (McManus, Mason, O'Brien and Glass) are not available next week. Dorus (de Vries) hurt his hand in training yesterday and it should be OK for next week but he won't be able to train until later in the week. Jim McIntyre has had this injury; he has been able to train but we just said other people need to push themselves forward, why risk Jim McIntyre in the game when he is not quite right.

"OK it would be nice to finish on a high but apart from that could we see the bigger picture with next week and give people a chance to create competition for the squad and give me more options. More questions were answered maybe in a negative sense in that fellows didn't do themselves justice. That gives me a clearer idea of where we are.

"One or two positions are still up for grabs. Darren Young has picked up a knee injury so we will have to wait and see how he is as well."

Questioned on the Pars build up to the Cup Final Stephen Kenny relied that they were going to Portugal for four days.

"No we are not, I'm only joking. We went to St Andrews Bay last year but we are not doing that, after losing today it might not have been a bad shout but I think in my experience normality is not a bad thing in Cup Finals. Fairly normal; as normal as can be and then we will train next Friday and stay in the hotel that we stay in normally that we did for the Semi Finals.

"It was a poor day. It is not indicative of recent performances. Performances have been good. I am going to put that behind me - I am not going to read too much into that today. I learned what I learned and I could be scathing about today's performance but it wouldn't serve much of a purpose. No matter what you say we have been relegated. When you speak to people and they won't play the next game I think our spirit is eroded somewhat. It takes an edge off you.

"The Cup Final is different. It is a big day next week. We are playing the double champions, they are a great club and we have got to prepare ourselves and make sure that we are not like we were today. I could have played Tam and Stephen Glass, Gary Mason and Jim O'Brien and maybe got a result and went in on a high. We would then have thrown an experimental line up into next Saturday and got stuffed, so better getting beat today and have a better shape and better organisation next week."
