Jim McIntyre Post Inverness
Monday, 14th May 2007"It will be a difficult summer but we have a massive game against Celtic but right now that feels a million miles away."
Jim McIntyre scored the goal that sent his side into a first half lead and raised the hopes of the travelling support but at the end the emotions had stood on its head. He was not willing to blame Dutch goalkeeper for relegation when allowed a Richard Hastings free kick slip through his grasp in the 77th minute:-
"Dorus de Vries has saved us so many times during this run, we can attach absolutely no blame to him because he has been out of this world. I am sure he will go and play for a top, top club one day because he is that good.
"At half time with Motherwell one up and then two up against St Mirren, we were one up and it was looking rosy in the garden but we did say at half time, it is only half time - we have got a job to do here.
"The manner that the second goal went in, you sometimes think these things are not for you. You have got to play a lot of credit to St Mirren, they have come back from two goals down to win 3-2 so congratulations to them.
"If we had won on Saturday we would have taken it to the last game but we never. At the end of the day the table doesn't lie we are relegated because we were the poorest team over the course of the season. We have to take that on the chin. It is going to be a hard week next week trying to get over it because we have a Cup Final to look forward to. The next few days are going to be really difficult. It will be a difficult summer but we have a massive game against Celtic but right now that feels a million miles away."
