Preview Inverness CT
Wednesday, 9th May 2007Pars head for Culloden in what could be their last battle on SPL soil.
The Pars last away game of the SPL season sends them back to Inverness where they will be the visitors for the third time. Memories of the last trip to the Caledonian Thistle Stadium are still vivid given that it was only 8 weeks ago and it was the day that Dunfermline clinched their first away win of the season.
Yet again victory is paramount if there is to be any hope of overtaking St Mirren who have won their last two away games and are at Motherwell on Saturday. Possibly the best outcome is a Pars win and a draw between `Well and Saintees. At least that would mean that Dunfermline would be off the bottom of the SPL for the first time in six months but defeat at Inverness coupled with a St Mirren win at Fir Park would mean curtains for Stephen Kenny`s men.
A win for the two bottom teams would mean that Dunfermline would go into the last round of fixtures, one point behind St Mirren who would face Inverness Caley at home and two points behind Motherwell who travel to Tannadice on the final day.

In April 2000 the Pars 2-1 win in the Highlands won them promotion to the Premier League after a year`s absence. It would be ironic if it was at Inverness that their most recent stay in the SPL came to an end.

Since Christmas Celtic and Dunfermline have been the only visiting teams to win in Inverness. Inverness`s last two fixtures are against the two teams at the foot of the table and full points for them could see them finish seventh if other results went their way.

Referee for this, the final away game of the season is Mike Ritchie. This whistler has shown 2.6 yellow cards per match this season and has shown a red in both his SPL matches this season. He refereed the Boxing Day fixture against Motherwell at East End Park when Jim Hamilton`s game came to an abrupt end in 80 minutes.
This is a must win game. A draw would leave the Pars hoping for a Motherwell victory but let`s have a win to keep the dream alive.
Come on ye Pars!
