Kozma Cup confidence
Friday, 4th May 2007"Dunfermline are already in Europe so they can play more relaxed but they must try to win."
One of the greatest Pars legends has urged Dunfermline players to enjoy this year's Scottish Cup Final safe in the knowledge that they have already qualified for next season's UEFA Cup. Istvan Kozma played in a Hampden final when he was at Dunfermline; the Skol Cup (League Cup) against Hibs in October 1991. Although he was on the losing side that day Istvan stressed what it means to a player:-
"For everybody it is a very special day, in the final anything can happen. Dunfermline are already in Europe so they can play more relaxed but they must try to win. You can always look back on such occasions."
The 42 year old Hungarian internationalist is Assistant Coach to G?za M?sz?ly at the fifth ranked Hungarian club, Vasas SC in Budapest and he reckons that might make it impossible for him to return to watch Stephen Kenny's team face Celtic:-
"We still have four games left to play in our championship, maybe I won't have time but who knows because Geza is very good with me."
Istvan Kozma signed for Dunfermline in September 1989 from Bordeaux for a fee of £550,000. By the time he was sold to Liverpool in February 92 he had made 103 appearances and had scored nine goals. He was back at East End Park this week to play in Andy Tod's Testimonial match. His English was extremely good as he described the reception that Andy Tod was given:-
"Many people love him; he enjoyed the game and we enjoyed it as well. It was a great night for him." Kozma never played against Andy Tod but added. "He is very strong man and it wasn't easy for any striker to play against him."
Ross Jack is a big friend of Istvan and there was no question that the former favourite enjoyed the reunion:-
"When I come back many memories come back for me, it is always very good to come back."
Istvan recorded his personal thanks to the Andy Tod Testimonial Committee for inviting him back and to Blair Morgan for being his host.
