Phil McGuire Post Hibs
Saturday, 7th Apr 2007"As long as we win I don't care who scores. It is your team mates that make the goals I just have to be ther
"We did a lot of work on this during the week to take it quick. It was a great ball in from Adam, I just got my head on it and directed it. I managed to do that and it went into the back of the net. It was great to get the goal but getting the three points is all that mattered today."
Phil was not prepared to herald the three points as possible season savers:-
"The end of the season will tell that, it is not in our own hands. We have just got to keep winning and St Mirren can only throw it away. If we can keep pressure on them, we shall see where we are at the end of the season."
Does this result give Dunfermline the upper hand going into next week's cup tie?
"It may be a slight psychological boost, next week's the Semi Final at Hampden for a place to play in the last game of the season which is the Final. It is a great scene to play, Hibs will be up for it - they will be wanting to win as much as we are. We have to go into it the same attitude as today and see what happens next week.
Phil McGuire's second goal of the season follows his previous memorable one against Rangers in the Scottish Cup, can Phil strike again?
"We'll see I won't tempt fate, as long as we win I don't care who scores. It is your team mates that make the goals I just have to be there to score them."
He acknowledged that with central defender, Scott Wilson back from suspension selection will be interesting at Hampden next weekend.
"The Manager has a problem now because I thought as a back five, including Dorus, we contained them, they didn't have any chances that I can remember during the game. It was a great team performance from front to back. Everybody worked a shift and got our just reward with the three points.
"All I will worry about will be ourselves. We have just got to work hard during the week and go into next week's game with the same belief, do well and see what happens."
