"It was a case of just continuing to do the right things, believe in ourselves that it wasn't all done and dusted in this game and that we had a real chance to still get the three points ......

"The Manager said that if we continued to believe in ourselves there was a chance to win the game. Lucky enough the second half performance improved and we got a couple of little breaks. We took advantage of that to get the three points.

"We felt we could have been doing better because we felt in the first half that we were on top of our game and unfortunate to be a goal behind. It was a case of just continuing to do the right things, believe in ourselves that it wasn't all done and dusted in this game and that we had a real chance to still get the three points despite being a goal down. The lads took that on and I think in the second half we deserved it."

Stephen played a major part in Dunfermline's first SPL win over Inverness Caley Thistle, scoring the equaliser in 48 minutes and then putting the game out of Caley's reach by converting a 78th minute penalty.

"I am here to be in the right place but when it comes to you, you still have to put it in. It was good movement from Jim O'Brien to get the cross in from Greg Ross's throw in, it was a good bit of play in the first instance. The forward player; Jim McIntyre and Tam McManus did well as well and I think we deserved the win.

"They are two good players who have been trying hard to get in the team for a while. They have rewarded the Manager's faith in them with a good performance today. There is real competition for places with the two lads who have been playing, Stevie Crawford and Jim Hamilton - they have been playing with injuries and doing really well for the team.

"I think giving them a little break today bringing in the other two lads who did really well increases the competition for places. They are burning to show what they can do. You could call it a gamble, it has paid off for the Manager."

Unfortunately Tam McManus's propensity to be sent off in the closing minutes of games cropped up for the third time in his career. The 26 year old's two previous red cards against Rangers while playing for Hibs and against United in the Dundee Derby came in 88 minutes. Stephen gave his thoughts on the 92nd minute red card at the Caledonian Thistle Stadium:-

"Tam had done really well and it is hard to tell what happened, it was a quick flashpoint where he had to protect himself a little bit. It was the referee's first game in this league but he had a good performance. It was a quick, snap decision that he had to make - he is there to make a decision and I don't know if it was right or wrong. It is something that he has got to do but I feel that (Tam) he was protecting himself a bit for the challenge. For their player (Ian Black) to get absolutely nothing is quite surprising considering the challenge."

Stephen Glass and Jamie Harris had been offered the number 13 shirt but had declined it. Tam McManus is obviously hoping that 13 can be a lucky shirt number for him. Stephen felt that the performance on his first start for the Pars had shown that his former Hibs team mate could still have something to contribute in the SPL:-

"I have been away and have not been following his career but I think Tam believes that he can play in the Premier League and today he proved that he can do that against a good team as well. Last year Inverness won all their games after the split - it shows the sort of level they are at against other teams in the bottom six.

"It is an indication of how far you have got to come when you come up to Inverness you want to be where they get every year. We have to continue to perform like they do, that has got to be a target for a club like us."
