Preview St Mirren
Wednesday, 7th Mar 2007The Big One - foot of the table clash
Dunfermline v St Mirren, SPL Saturday 10th March 2007, kick off 3.00pm
There is little doubt that Saturday`s meeting with St Mirren will be the most important match of this season so far. The Pars linger nine points behind 11th placed Saints and defeat would make it very difficult to survive in the SPL with only eight fixtures remaining. Fortunately Dunfermline`s record against the Paisley rivals favours them with 35 wins to St Mirren`s 28.

There have been some memorable matches against St Mirren and one hopes that Saturday`s will be another. The Pars defeated St Mirren in the 1961 Scottish Cup Semi Final before going on to win the Cup for the first ever time. Then there was the record home win the following season when the legendary Charlie Dickson scored a double hattrick.

The most recent meeting at East End Park was the first League match between the clubs in over five years. John Sutton had the visitors ahead after ten minutes but Darren Young equalised just 12 seconds into the second half to set up Stevie Crawford for his second match winner in his first three games after his return from Aberdeen.
