Stephen Kenny Post Dundee United
Saturday, 27th Jan 2007"I suppose we are at the stage where we probably need three points rather than a point.
Stephen Kenny:-
"I suppose we are at the stage where we probably need three points rather than a point. Considering the way the game went a point wasn't too bad; it was good to keep a clean sheet.
"I saw Dundee United a few weeks ago against Falkirk; they were beaten 5-1 and were a bit tame in that game. They left loads of room for Falkirk to play. I think they have taken a look at that defeat and brought big men in today. They are the strongest team physically that we have played all season. They have seriously big men, very direct and very difficult to play against. It was effective.
"After the initial onslaught in the first ten minutes we found our feet and played alright. With the pitch the way it was we were trying to string passes together. Jim O'Brien got a fair bit of joy on the right flank in the first half and Adam Hammill on the left in the second half.
"Still we didn't create enough chances. Jim Hamilton had a good chance just before the break, there were one or two chances after that. Again our endeavour and our honesty couldn't be questioned. We lost Shields again and we lost Muirhead through injury. That seems to be a recurring theme this season that started pre season I believe.

"Nevertheless the players that came in - Greg, Adam and Jim are all nineteen. They work extremely hard and there is an honesty about it. I admit we weren't free flowing or playing the way I'd like to have us at this stage of our development but the players that have come in have given us a bit more quality.
"Stephen Glass was excellent; really really good. I am sure that he would rather not play there, in fact I know he'd rather play in a more advanced position. Ideally we would play him in a more advanced position but needs must and Stephen was very good for us today.
"Hammill - he has something that kid - he has good ability and excites the crowd which is a rare thing. Jim as well has added a bit to us."
Dundee United boss Craig Levein thought that it was a game that his side should have won:-
"I have been fairly critical of our defending in recent weeks so in the interests of fairness, I would say that we defended excellently today. Derek Stillie has said that is the quietest afternoon he has ever had, so I don't know if we will be able to deduct something off his wages this week.
"Excellent defending and on another day one of the chances we had would have gone in. Dunfermline were fighting for their lives and all credit to them. They defended very stoutly and made it difficult for us.
"The pitch didn't help, particularly when you have got opportunities to put balls in the box. We never really married the quality of cross with the quality of finish. We had some great crosses but could never get the finish right. I can't complain too much."
