John Yorkston warns of potential banana skin awaiting Pars on the Solway.

John Yorkston wants to remember Dunfermline's historic date with Annan for all the right reasons. The Pars will be the first SPL team to face the Division Three club who gained admission to the Scottish Football League in 2008, in the Scottish Communities League Cup first round tie at Galabank.

While Dunfermline are hot favourites to progress into the second round,  East End Park chairman Yorkston admitted the game is a potential banana skin.  He said :

"A bitCof history is being made and we know what is at stake. There will be a big crowd and Annan will be up for it, there is no doubt about that.  We had them watched when they beat Albion Rovers last week and the reports that came back were impressive.

"It's a potential banana skin and we are in the unusual position now that we are the big boys going into the tie. If we win people will see it as no great surprise, if we lose Annan will be giant killers. If we play to our ability we should get through but football is a funny old game and Annan will be treated with every respect, that's for sure.

"We want to do well in the competition because there is prestige and a good run also gives players confidence. It's going to be a special day for Annan and we will have to be switched on. You cannot write anyone off and the Annan players will be playing out of their skin. We will have to be on our guard and hopefully play our best football."

The match is all ticket but tickets will be on sale at Galabank before the game.
