Right Back signed
Thursday, 7th Jul 201123 year old Jason Thomson signed on loan from Hearts for six months
Dunfermline Athletic are pleased to announce the signing of Jason Thomson, on loan from Hearts for six months. A quick and tenacious tackler, Jason operates at right-back from where he constantly drives forward to support the attack.
Jim McIntyre confirmed:-.
"We have signed Jason Thomson on loan from Hearts till the January window. We are really pleased with that. He is a good young player, who has played about 40 games for Hearts first team over the last two or three years, so he knows the Premier league and he is desperate to play. He has been unfortunate that there are good players in front of him and his chances have been limited but I am bringing him here to show what he can do."
The 23 year old joined the Hearts Academy from Loanhead Boys Club and signed a full professional contract in July 2003. When faced with a flu epidemic, Hearts' head coach John Robertson called upon Jason to make his competitive debut in March 2005 against Inverness Caley Thistle and was rewarded with two further first team appearances that season. The former U19 internationalist also gained valuable experience on loan to Livingston for most of season 2006-07 when was reunited with John Robertson.
Under Stephen Frail towards the end of the 07/08 season Jason played the final 5 games of Hearts season. This meant upon Csaba Laszlo's arrival Jason was a part of the first team squad. He went on to start the season at right back in Robbie Neilson's absence and played a squad part for much of the season covering when either Neilson or Lee Wallace were out. He signed a new 3 year deal in April 2009. Jason returned to the first team with a start against local rivals Hibs on November 7, 2009 replacing Craig Thomson (no relation) in the starting line up and was voted the match sponsors man of the match. Darren Barr's arrival in the summer of 2010 has created tough competition in the right-back position.
Jason was at Pitreavie on Thursday and is expected to be part of the Dunfermline squad that travels to Austria at the weekend after the closed doors game against Airdrie United.
