Manager Post Livingston
Saturday, 2nd Jul 2011"It was a very good game; I thought we started exceptionally well. We scored a good goal and obviously we made a mistake that allowed them to come back into it.
Jim McIntyre gave his opinions on the friendly against Livingston as he left the ground on Saturday:-
"It was a very good game; I thought we started exceptionally well. We scored a good goal and obviously we made a mistake that allowed them to come back into it. They scored a good goal themselves and they were lively. You could see the lift it gave them but it all about minutes on the pitch for the boys.
"We said to them afterwards that you are not going to be at your best in these games. They are all about getting your touch back in, your decision making and fitness. Livingston had some good young players and had loads of energy about them. It was a really good game."
Being able to field two different teams as he did for this friendly; one in the first half and another in the second, demonstrated the strength in depth that the Manager now has at his disposal:-
"It is pleasing to have 22 fit players when you have just done eight or nine days of really hard work. Obviously they were still feeling the effects of that as well but that is what pre season is about. They are not going into the games fresh because they worked really hard yesterday; it is just another cog in the wheel in terms of where we want to go on the fitness side of things."
Trialist puts in a cross v Livingston
Macca would not name who his trialist was at right back in the first half but in answer to a supplementary question to see if he was any closer to signing a new right back he replied "no".
"We will just keep searching away and see what comes up. We are in the market for a right back and that will complete our squad."
