Manager Friday Lunchtime
Friday, 30th Jan 2009"We had a good result last time down there so hopefully we can manage that at home."
Jim McIntyre hopes that his team can recreate the kind of performance that saw them defeat Saturday's opponents in December:-
"Queen of the South are an experienced team, it will be a hard game, its always tough against them. We had a good result last time down there so hopefully we can manage that at home."
Even with the Dumfries side without a league win at East End Park since 1955, Macca was not interested in the record:-
"Each game is different, you can't think that because it's Queen of the South and we have done well against them before its going to happen again. The only way you will do well against them is if you turn up with the right attitude and you play the right type of football to get a result. The games are so tough in this league and this one is no different."
Gordon Chisholm's men will be keen to even their fallow run that has not brought them a win since the end of October. The Pars gaffer observed:-
"They have had a bit of a bad spell of late but the last couple of performances they have picked up.We had them watched last week and they should have won against Thistle and by all accounts they played very well.
"They are a dangerous team, they have a proven goalscorer in their team and also have Dobbie as well. They have good experience at the back and in the middle of the park, boys that have played at a higher level. We know that if we don't play as well as we can then we'll get beat."
The Pars have the disadvantage of not having played last Saturday. Macca continued
"We were disappointed that the game was postponed, but they were caught out by the weather like we were three weeks previously. That's just the way it is.You don't have any control over it and its disappointing that its two weeks since our last game."
He confirmed that there was as yet no decision on the date of the rearranged game.
"Graham Holmes came through the Reserve game on Tuesday no bother, and its another 90 minutes under his belt.Another week's training under his belt and no ill effects. He is in the squad tomorrow.
"Paul Willis is struggling with a calf injury and Jamie Mole who also sustained an injury on Tuesday is doubtful. "
During the transfer window Jamie Mole, David Graham and Rory Loy have been secured but asked if there had been any interest in any of his players he replied:-
"If everybody is fit, then obviously we would consider some of the young boys going out on loan, but nobody has come in for them."
Only two U19 league games remain and the reserves have two away games yet to play . After that the Manager explained:-
"We can arrange bounce games against possibly Premier league clubs who have bigger squads in order to keep the players fitness up that way.Its very difficult, but that's the difficulty we face, you maybe have to bring in a boy who's not played for five weeks because you don't have a Reserve league and that's never ideal but that's the predicament we are in."
