On Saturday Dunfermline will welcome John Brown`s Clyde side back to East End Park for the second time in three weeks but this time on Scottish Cup duty.  The clubs have only been drawn together in the Cup seven times previously, and the Pars have come out on top on three occasions, and one of those required a replay.

The first victory was back in 1952, although after being well in command the Pars were fortunate to survive a brave Clyde fightback. Rennie scored the first from close range, but then ten minutes into the second half Clyde equalised through Ring. On the hour mark McGairy put DA back into the lead, and then two minutes later Smith made it 3-1 to Dunfermline with a powerful free-kick. Clyde then pulled one back through Buchanan, after the Pars goalie Jock Moodie had parried a McPhail shot. With just five minutes remaining Clyde keeper Miller brought down McGairy, and Smith made no mistake from the spot. With 88 minutes on the clock, Clyde scored their third through McPhail to make the final score 4-3 to Dunfermline .

The last time the teams met in the Cup at East End Park was in 1977, and after the first game ended 0-0, the Pars travelled to Shawfield for the replay four days later. This time DA made no mistake, although it could have been very different if Harry Hood`s header in the opening minute had not slipped narrowly past. Walter Borthwick opened the scoring in 41 minutes, and further goals from Kenny Watson in 67 minutes and Roddy Georgeson right on the final whistle gave the Pars a comfortable passage to the next round.

Most fans will remember the last Scottish Cup meeting at Broadwood.  After the Saturday fixture, 17 days earlier, was abandoned because of heavy snowfall, the Pars won through 3-0 with first half goals, two from Barry Nicholson (one from the spot) and another from Lee Bullen. That was just one of the steps that was successfully negotiated to that year`s Hampden final.

The Pars won 4-1 the last time they met on cup duty - the Challenge Cup on 5th September 2007 but the last match in the First Division between the teams - just before Christmas - was played in cup tie style with the Pars going from 2-1 up to 4-2 down in a match that ended 4-4.

Clyde`s record at East End Park is not great.  Their last victory was on 16th March 1974 and that was 23 visits back. They have visited East End Park on 48 occasions and won only nine times.

Chris Higgins should return to John Brown`s side to face Dunfermline on Saturday as his two game suspension is itself suspended for cup games and their defence could be further boosted with the return of Neil McGregor.  Clyde have two new signings in Tony Stevenson (21), who can operate at either right back or central midfield, arrives from Hamilton Accies until May, and striker Craig O`Reilly (21) has arrived on a short term deal following his departure from East Fife.  O`Reilly is cup tied however.

Despite extending his loan deal until the end of January just last week midfielder Paul Emslie has returned to Rangers early after picking up an injury, and defender Michael Ohnesorge has had his contract terminated and returned to Germany for the same reason.

Referee will be Stevie O`Reilly.
