Bad Foot Good Goal
Sunday, 27th Jan 2008"It was on my bad foot so you are always happy when you score with your bad foot.
Stephen Simmons felt that prior to Saturday "It was a bit nervy because we hadn't been taking our chances." He was pleased that against Morton the opportunities had been taken to secure the two goal victory:-
"There were a couple of half chances, wee Burchy had a header, I had a snapshot but apart from that there wasn't much created. The ball just came over to me perfect and I have managed to get it on target and it has gone in. I was delighted but the main thing was the three points. The goal was a bonus but three points were a must."
Stephen really understated how good a finish his goal was:-
"It was a good ball in from wee Danny Murphy and I am happy with the finish. It was on my bad foot so you are always happy when you score with your bad foot. I missed one just after it with my good foot, so I was pleased to get a good connection on it."
The one that got away didn't quite get the same projection:-
"I was trying to place it instead of being rash and smashing it. It didn't come off my foot right and the guy has managed to block it, maybe the next time."
Had the team been concerned when Morton were holding them at half time?
"He just told us to keep on going, we were doing the right things and the chances will come in the end and we will take them. We have got the players to take the chances, there is no doubt about that."
The goalscorer reflected on the change in the team's fortunes under the new management team:-
"There seems to be a bit more of a team spirit, the boys are enjoying it. There is a big togetherness and hopefully it continues."
