Jamie Harris Post Morton

Saturday, 26th Jan 2008

"It is not a question that I have asked to leave but I haven't been offered a contract. If that time comes in April and I haven't got a contract here and there is no contract elsewhere ...

Jamie Harris

Jamie Harris revealed after the win over Morton that he might not be around when the Pars travel to Hamilton in two weeks time:-

"I came down with a virus last week and wanted to be available for that game but it was good to be back involved this week."

The 28 year old Welshman agreed that it had taken Dunfermline some time to take control of the match against Morton:-

"I think they came with a plan to not concede and to maybe try and play for a draw. It took us a wee while to break them down and get used to their 3-5-2 formation. It is always difficult and time told. We just needed to finish our chances which we did in the second half and created a few more."

The second goal from Stephen Glass six minutes from time put the result out of any doubt:-

"I enjoyed it. In a way that goal really finished the game off and took a bit of pressure off us. They were throwing men forward and it is up to us to defend but we were getting deeper and deeper. The second goal gave us a great boost."

With the transfer window closing next Thursday and rumours of interest in the 28 year old Welshman signed from Shelbourne 12 months ago he may have played his last match for the club:-

"There has been contact from clubs in Ireland regarding myself at the moment. The club are talking to two clubs that I know of. It is not a question that I have asked to leave but I haven't been offered a contract. If that time comes in April and I haven't got a contract here and there is no contract elsewhere, you know it is your livelihood. I have to look after myself.

"It is not a question of me asking to leave. I am very happy, I have been playing games and it has been a long time coming for me to actually get first team games in. All I can say is wait and see what happens and if I get the call it is up to me decide whether to leave."

Coming on as a second half sub for Scott Thomson, Harris was making his eleventh appearance for the Pars and he feels that only now is he getting to know his team mates properly.

"I have played in the games after being out for a while. For me this is not a club that I want to leave but to a certain degree it is out of my hands and if there is a contract on the table it is a different matter. It might all happen by Thursday and I was out of the team today bearing in mind if I do go they have got to get a settled back four again. You can understand that maybe I wasn't playing due to outside circumstances as well."

Jamie was not aware of any scouts in the East End Park Stand, he acknowledged:-

"Any clubs that are interested have seen me play before. It is out of my hands, as a player it is your livelihood as I say and you have to make sure that you are earning a wage."
