Not unexpectedly Jim McIntyre was disappointed after being knocked out the Scottish Cup by Partick Thistle:-

"Losing the late goal was a killer. I thought we played excellent for an hour, dominated and never took our chances. That came back to haunt us in the end. You need to capitalise when you are on top.

"The conditions were the same for both teams so I wouldn't attribute anything to the conditions. Basically goals change games and that is two games on the trot where we have had good chances and we have not taken them.

"We are in this together as a team and I was more than happy by the way we played for the first hour. If we keep playing like that then I am confident we will win more than we lose.

"I said to the boys at half time 'just keep banging away at the door, keep doing the things that have brought you success in the first place and don't change anything. Once we scored we seemed to take the foot off the pedal a wee bit and that definitely cost us as a team."

Jim played down the suggestion that his team must have been looking forward to a cup run again since with Livingston awaiting the winners there was always going to be a First Division side progressing:-

"Well we weren't looking at any cup run, we were looking at beating Partick Thistle. We have not managed to do that so that's it, it's end of story. We are gutted that we are out of the cup, that's for sure but I am not going to look for any hard luck stories."

Partick Thistle Manager Ian McCall thought that Dunfermline looked tired in the last half hour, he said:-

"We finished the first half strongly but I thought Dunfermline out played us for half hour without really cutting us open but Johnny had to make a great save from Burchill; a great stop at a very important time. Then we went to sleep at a set play; they have got a lot of big players but then so have we.

"Jim McIntyre dominated in the air. I have seen Jim McIntyre do that to top players and so we kept Storey on and for us he was the Man of the Match. I thought Storey was magnificent.

"Steven Murray and Keegan coming on added a dimension for us. Murray must be the unluckiest player in Scottish football not to get a start at this club. When we changed the system he did really well. He certainly has a future here.

"I think it was youth. We just never gave up, we have a lot of young players in the team and we just kept driving forward. After the free kick got disallowed - the referee disallowed the goal because they encroached, what's that got to do with us? Paul Gallacher would never have saved that."

McCall was pleased that he was not bleating about the two disallowed goals before the winner came:-

"The first one Liam (Buchanan) was interfering with play. He was in front of goal but I don't think the goalie would have got it. The second one was harsh, it was a great strike. They've broken out, I've never seen a wall that hasn't broken out early and he has given a foul for it but fortunately it didn't matter."

The Jags gaffer was full of praise for the player who has scored 14 goals for them since joining from Cowdenbeath:-

"After that I thought it might be one each but with Buchanan you never know. The boy misses a lot of chances but I tell you what, he is like McCoist - he is not as good as McCoist yet - but you know how McCoist used to miss a million and score a million. Well Buchanan misses a few but he never stops going into the box. He scored two good goals tonight. I hope he is here for another year or two but I doubt it."
