Dunfermline v Celtic 10/12/06

Stephen Kenny said:-

"This is our home venue and we do not want to lose games at East End Park. Regardless of the opposition we are disappointed that we lost.

"There was a big improvement in our play with some good individual performances. Celtic are obviously a better team than we are, that is not in dispute. There were not many clear cut chances; Dorus made a good save in the first half but apart from that there were only a few balls across the box but not chances that Celtic missed.

"We did alright in the first half but to concede a goal at the start of the second half was disappointing. There was a hint of offside about it.  The ball over the top looked offside but still they should not have scored from that position.

"We kept going and showed good perseverance and good persistence.  There was good attitude and nothing lacking in terms of attitude, effort and determination. Those attributes were OK.

"We have to be realistic having lost 5-1 last week, we were playing Celtic who have done so well and are sixteen points clear. We weren't too defensive, we had Freddie Daquin and Scott Muirhead pushing on to support Stephen Crawford. We were more competitive in midfield than we were last week.

"We defended setpieces better than we did last week when they let us down. We need to be more competitive given the position that we are in."

Reaction to cup draw:-

"Such is the importance of Dunfermline preserving their Premierleague status it is neither here or there. It is a good draw in terms of being high profile but I have always looked at cup draws by taking the one that's easiest to progress and that is obviously not one that is the easiest. We are at home and anything is possible.

"By the time that comes around in January, I think we will have improved. In the meantime, if you look at Phil McGuire coming back today, Mark Burchill and possibly Darren Young back next week.  We are getting stronger and you feel that we will be able to put a decent side out.  Be stronger and have more about us."
