Stevie began by explaining how it came about that he scored the winning goal in two successive home matches:-
"The right back played it to me and I was kind of taken aback myself. The left back Kirk Broadfoot was coming at me and I was lucky enough to catch it well with a wee bit of movement on it to take it away from Bully (Tony Bullock).
"The Manager gave us a rollicking at half time and felt that we were lacklustre in the first half. We were not moving it about with purpose. For all we were trying to pass the ball about we maybe had too many square passes without any end product. You have to give St Mirren credit, knowing Gus (MacPherson) and having played with him and the way he sets up his teams, they are very difficult to play against anyway but I think the Manager was right to have a go at us at half time.
"The Manager gave us all a kick up the backside and we were disappointed with ourselves and the way things were going then Hammy has laid one off to Darren. Darren has taken everybody's frustration out on the ball, he couldn't have caught it any better and it was a great strike to get the first goal.
"He was an angry man and he showed the passion that he has. There were a few things getting kicked about the dressing room; it is things as a player that you don't want to see but we can understand his frustration. After going out to Rangers in midweek when there were opportunities - there was maybe not a better time to get through in the cup- that was frustration coming out but thankfully we have answered him as well. The second half display was more about the way we play as a team and icing on the cake to get the win.
"There are difficult games coming up, Motherwell are always a difficult side and we are up at Inverness next week. I don't think anybody enjoys going up there; Inverness' record is probably better away from home - it is a stuffy place to go but if we can go up there and get a result to build on the two home victories then it will be a positive."
