Deals please Chairman
Thursday, 31st Aug 2006"I think the fans will be delighted that Stevie has signed.
Chairman John Yorkston commented as Dunfermline's last deals of the summer transfer window were concluded:
"We were chasing two guys for a while and we managed to tie the last one up today. Jim Hamilton came in a couple of days ago so that was quite easy.
"We have brought in 8 or 9 new players and we all think that will include the squad dramatically from last year. So we are looking forward to getting them all on the pitch.
"I think the fans will be delighted that Stevie has signed. It is fair to say that he had his best spell when he was with us before and hopefully he will match up with one of our other forwards and produce the goods again.
"The reason we are going for strikers is because we didn't have any. We were only left with Mark Burchill at the end of last season and we had to get three or four in. We knew who we were after we just had to persevere to get the right ones.
Will Crawford and Hamilton for a striking partnership in the same mould as Crawford and Brewster?
"It might well but bear in mind we have Mark Burchill, Jim McIntyre and Noel Whelan who all have a say in whose in the starting line up. We were always trying to get Jim Hamilton and we were talking to Terry Butcher when he was Motherwell manager so that's a few months ago. Things changed when Maurice (Malpas) became Manager. We were always interested in Jim Hamilton - he was the guy we wanted to bring in."
