Jim Leishman Post Falkirk
Saturday, 5th Aug 2006"We missed Greg Shields, he is an influential player for us"
"I thought Falkirk started the game really well and put us under the cosh early on. They scored from something we had been working on picking up at cross balls but we lost a bad goal and they were really pressing for the second.
"Then we had three really good chances, Freddie, Stephen Simmons, cutting in forced a good save and then, Mark Burchill. At the end of last season Burchy would have scored and that would have been us back in the game.
"It was even in the second half we thought it was even-stevens but it's obviously disappointing to get nothing out of a derby match."
"It's difficult without the strikers but these things happen and that's not an excuse. We are playing Freddie (Daquin) as a striker but we didn't have that presence up front to help Mark Burchill, he plays off big lads.
"But we're working on that to bring someone else in. We've got lots of names but a lot of them are really expensive."
"We missed Greg Shields, he is an influential player for us" added Leish who had to bring his captain off after quarter of an hour with a twisted knee. "He just could not spring off it but he is able to put his weight on it, we will need to see how it is on Monday."
"It's a hard league but we knew it was going to be hard and we've got to keep plugging away and keep going for it. Once we get the boys back we've got a decent squad. Hopefully there will be a couple of players coming in, it might not be next week, but the week after it.
"Andrew Tod has now served his suspension; Noel Whelan will be another four weeks, Jim McIntyre maybe six weeks. That has sapped our strength and we just have to battle on until they come back."
