New Appointment to DAFC Board of Directors
Wednesday, 16th Jul 201414/07/14: DAFC are delighted to announce the appointment of William A Braisby as a director. This was agreed by the existing board of directors on Monday 14th July 2014, but will be required to be ratified by shareholders at the next AGM.
Billy will follow in the footsteps of his late father, Bill who served on the board of DAFC during the re-birth of the club in the 1980's.
Billy has been involved behind the scenes at the club over a number of years, in various roles but very actively involved within Pars United since April its formation on 1 April 2013.
Chairman Bob Garmory stated "Billy will be a fantastic addition to the board and has already proved over many months his commitment and dedication towards what we are trying to achieve at the club. It is purely recognition of the hard work and support he has provided to the board in an informal capacity over the period.
The articles of DAFC allow for a board of seven, and with Craig McWhirter recently stepping down we decided that we needed to further strengthen the board to ensure we can meet our ambitious plans for the club. The existing board are carrying a heavy workload at present, on a voluntary basis, and it was important to make the right appointment to complement the skills and experience currently in place. Kip McBay will take on the responsibility for football matters from Craig, and Billy will take over the area of match day hospitality, lounges and events from Kip. In addition, Billy will work closely with Ross McArthur to share some of his workload in terms of commercial and fund raising. As we have always said, when appointing board members we have a duty to ensure that they have the ability, time and skills to fulfil a specific role and share the vision of what we are trying to achieve, which Billy most certainly does"
Billy commented "I was absolutely delighted when I was approached a couple of weeks ago to join the board, it will be an honour and a privilege to take on this important role for the club. It is also particularly poignant for me taking on a role that my father undertook previously. During that time the club prospered as a community club and we are once again making real strides in that direction. Like the current Board, I am fully committed to helping the club move towards a more sustainable future."
