Manager on Wednesday
Thursday, 26th Jun 2014"Pre season is sometimes treated with a lot of apprehension but things have changed now."
Jim Jefferies is back from his summer holidays and looking forward to getting his Dunfermline squad together for the start of pre season training on Wednesday 2nd July.
The Dunfermline Athletic Manager was pleased to report the signing of keeper Ryan Scully on an all season loan from Partick Thistle.
"He was out of contract and we could have offered him something but we probably couldn't have afforded the compensation due. Partick offered him a contract and let him go out on loan to us again. That keeps him playing and we have agreed a deal with just the paperwork to get tied up."
Having spent the whole of last season at East End Park, Ryan was named the club's player of the year. As number one choice between the sticks Ryan made 45 starts and achieved ten shut outs.
As far as pre season friendlies are concerned JJ has so far just a home game against Hibs on Tuesday 15th July and an away game at Berwick on Saturday 19th July.
"Hibs have a new manager so we are hoping for a good travelling support coming across for the game. We are hoping to fix a first team game on Monday 21st. but we are not that bothered because we will be playing in the Ramsden Cup on the Saturday."
The Under 20s are committed to a tournament at Spartans on Saturday and Sunday 12th and 13th July. On Thursday 17th July a younger squad will travel to play Gala Fairydean and a similar squad will face Lochgelly Albert at Gardiners Park on Wednesday 23rd July.
"The season extended with the play offs and the close season got shorter. The players are a young squad, everybody tends to look after themselves but any who have put a pound or two on, we will have them all ship shape by the time the season opens.
"Pre season is sometimes treated with a lot of apprehension but things have changed now. The players are naturally fit, they have not had a long lay off so a few days should see them back into the swing of it. We will certainly be spending a lot of our time with the ball and I do not see any major problems."
The under 20s will compete in the Spartans Tournament at Ainslie Park, Edinburgh.
