Dunfermline 1-0 FC Edinburgh
Sat, 15th Oct 2022

Dunfermline secured the win that allowed them to leapfrog their opponents and go back on top of the league by one point with a game in hand.

It was a match where it took a long time to secure the win. There were plenty of corners and attempts but it was 88th minute before the Pars got the only goal of the game. A Sam Fisher cross from the right duly nestled inside the far sidenetting, the deflection off the luckless Liam FONTAINE directing the ball into his own net. In all fairness it was the on loan Dundee defender’s shot that caused the goal. 1-0

When that goal broke the deadlock there were only two minutes remaining and three of time added on, all of which the Pars saw out safely.

DUNFERMLINE: Deniz Mehmet: Sam Fisher, Kyle Benedictus (c), Rhys Breen: Aaron Comrie, Chris Hamilton (Craig Wighton 61), Joe Chalmers, Josh Edwards: Chris Mochrie (Kyle Macdonald 91), Matthew Todd: Nikolay Todorov (Lewis McCann 61).

Recent Form

While Dunfermline sat out due to their postponed match at Peterhead, FC Edinburgh suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Alloa Athletic on Saturday.

The capital side have nevertheless won two and drawn one of their last four matches. Unfortunately for them they lost the previous four since the 1-0 home defeat to the Pars.

Dunfermline have lost only one of their 27 league games and are on a run of fifteen undefeated. They have won their last three league games 2-0.
