Hammy hoping for a home cure

Pars vice captain Chris Hamilton has made 18 starts and 8 sub appearances this season but none would have left him and his team mates as frustrated as they were on Saturday with the 1-1 draw away to Clyde. He revealed after the match:-
“Yes definitely the over riding emotion is frustration in the dressing room. We feel like we certainly did enough to win the game but sometimes that is not enough, you need to put the ball in the back of the net. I think we had the chances to do that but it just wasn’t our day in front of goal. We are disappointed.”
The league leaders were short priced favourites to defeat the bottom of the table club even though it was at the home club’s current home, New Douglas Park, Hamilton. Martin Rennie netted for Clyde just into the fourth minute of the game and it appeared to upset the Fifers game plan. Chris agreed that the first 45 minutes “probably wasn’t our best first half”.
“We had a words at half time that sorted a few things out. In the second half we were much better but in the first half when they got the early goal it did put us off a bit. We reacted well and got the goal before half time but I think we had enough chances in the second half to go in front.”
It was great skills from Josh Edwards that created the 38th minute equaliser and the second half was peppered with a multitude of corner kicks none of which would create the much sought after equaliser:-
“It is something that the manager is big on - attacking and defending corners. So we do work on them but when you get that many you run out of ideas. It is just a case of a good delivery and hoping that one of our bigger boys can get on the end of it. To be fair to them they defended crosses well and sometimes that happens.”
The 21 year old who was signed from Hearts at the start of this season agreed that an element of the lack of success from corner kicks could be attributed to Clyde’s good defensive performance:-
“Definitely. If you put that many balls into the box as we did all day, you expect a least one of them is going to go in. You probably have got to give Clyde a little credit as well.”
Manager James McPake was just as frustrated as the players said Chris:-
“He couldn’t fault our attitude and our application. With the amount of chances we created he is frustrated for us more than anything, that we couldn’t find the winner.”
Three successive away wins for Dunfermline were followed by a home win over Peterhead and then three away matches without a win. Chris is now hoping that a returning to East End Park will change the Pars fortunes. Next Saturday’s league match against Montrose will be just the second at home in eight games. He added:-
“It feels like we have not played at home for ages. We had the Peterhead game but I can’t remember a run of games since we have been at home so hopefully it will be good in front of our own fans and hoped we can get back to winning ways next week.”
