Play your PARt
Thursday, 2nd Feb 2023An open letter from Dunfermline Athletic CEO and Chairman David Cook on how you can help push the club further in the right direction.
As we currently sit top of cinch SPFL League One just after the half way point of the season I wanted to reach out to the Pars community.
On the pitch we`re very pleased with the work James, his staff and the players have been carrying out. To be 7 points clear at the top of the league is testament to the hard graft on the training pitch. As we near the end of the transfer window we are looking at ways to strengthen the team. As has been stated before, we need to recruit the right players and players that enhance what is already a strong group. We are also delighted that Josh Edwards has signed a new deal at the club.
In the coming week`s I`ll provide a fuller mid season update on camera to overview the season so far.
One thing that has hugely impressed me since joining the club is the backing from the stands, both on match day`s and during the week. The positive atmosphere created during the games has really pushed the team on and the togetherness when we score has been there for everyone to see.
Off the pitch too, the number of supporters giving up their time and skills to help run the various associated groups and committees has been a real eye opener. I`d like to thank each and every one of you who continues to support this fantastic club. Whether that is the team of stadium volunteers who help maintain KDM Group East End Park, the team of parents who deliver great experiences for the Young Pars along with members of the many more groups who put their heart and soul in to this club, we applaud your efforts.
As I`ve met with many of these groups, one consistent piece of feedback is how we could always do with `more hands on deck.` The majority of these groups are working with small committees that have been in place for well over a decade and this is why we`re announcing a new programme called `PLAY YOUR PART`
We`re inviting supporters along to KDM Group East End Park on Monday 6th February from 6pm to hold a volunteers recruitment event to see if you can help join the team and support the many groups that help the club.
We`ll start with an introduction from myself providing a small Club update as well as assessing the areas we`re looking for support.
I`ll also be joined by members of the DAFC Board and Staff along with representatives from many of the volunteer groups. Pars Foundation, DAFC Academy, Pars TV, The Centenary Club, 1885 Business Club, DAFC Catering, DAFC Retail, Pars Supporters Trust plus more will be represented to highlight volunteering opportunities in these areas.
Some highly sought after skills gaps have been identified in these groups:
- Business Development
- Marketing and Communications
- Legal and Finance
- Stadium Maintenance
- Event Management/Hospitality
- Transportation
- Broadcast/Streaming
Regardless of skillset we`re looking for volunteers to get involved. Opportunities include:
- Helping drive minibuses for Academy players on day release
- Tradesmen to help with numerous stadium and pitch maintenance requirements
- Talented sales and marketing professional to support the many fundraising initiatives by likes of the Pars Foundation, Centenary Club and 1885 Business Club
- Knowledgeable event and venue staff to enhance matchday operations
- C-suite level supporters who can help strategically shape some of the affiliated groups
DAFC are a genuine community club and we want to offer rewarding volunteering roles which offer you the chance to play your part in shaping the future success of the organisation.
Come and get involved on the 6th of February!
Best Wishes,
David Cook
