Assistant Manager Dave Mackay was pleased to see Dunfermline safely into Round Four of the Scottish Cup. He told the media:-
"I think it was a good performance all round. Some of the play was excellent, some of the goals were very good as well. Really pleasing because these games can be tricky against a team who has been struggling in the league.
“It was break for them today and you can almost see it as a wee bit of a free hit for them to come down and it be a little bit of a release from the league campaign. They started pretty well for 10 minutes or so, but after we got the first goal we looked very comfortable and played some really good stuff."
It was a really good starting debut for Kane Ritchie-Hosler?
"I thought he was excellent. I spoke on Thursday and said he`s had to bide his time, but training-wise he`s been different class. He showed that in the 50 minutes that he was on and it`s only a poor tackle that made sure he had to come off a little bit early, a bit precautious.
“I thought he was excellent. Even his build-up play for the play for the third goal shows the kind of qualities he`s got. He`s always trying to play on the half-turn, look forward and be creative. He done himself no harm today.
"Great to get a goal as well. The goals were spread out a wee bit today. Craig Wighton gets a couple which is good for him. Yeah, good to see Kane getting a goal as well, I thought his overall play deserved it.
"He`ll be fine, I`m sure it`s just a knock. Andy Munro came through the back of him, so he`s just feeling his ankle a little bit. It didn`t really help it was so close to half-time - it stiffens up during that period. He came out and he made a really good run just before he came off as well - a good pass into Craig Wighton. So I`m sure it won`t be anything too serious."
A couple of goals for Wighton won’t do his confidence any harm?
"I thought his overall play was really good. That`s the Craig Wighton we know - when he can get the ball and he can go past players which he maybe wasn`t too confident with earlier in the season. Injuries certainly didn`t help with that. But today, the amount of times he wanted the ball and was direct, knocking it past players, using his pace and especially for the second goal.
“The first goal is a really good finish too, but the second one is different class. The awareness to see the keeper`s off his line and just dink it into the top of the net. Really pleased for Wighty as well today.”
Taylor Sutherland (pictured above) came on for his senior debut?
"It`s reward for how he`s done for the under-18 and also the Reserve performances. Against Celtic B, he got a goal in that game, so he`s deserved it. His attitude is different class and he`s one we`ve got high hopes for."
Who would you wish to get in the draw? Home draw, big team or minnow?
"Personally, as a coaching staff, I don`t know how the players would feel, but you don’t want one of the big teams. You want to go as far as you can in this competition. Not to say that we couldn`t beat any of them, but you want to have a decent home draw, you`d think. Although our away form has been very good this season. I`m just glad we`re in the next round and we`ll just see what happens on Monday night."
