Comrie ready for the new derby
Friday, 19th Aug 2022Aaron Comrie:- “It has been the perfect start so far and if we can keep making clean sheets then we are going to give ourselves opportunities in games
Pars defender Aaron Comrie says that the team will be more than ready for Saturday’s short six mile trip to New Central Park:-
“The boys are feeling good, we have trained with a good tempo and there is an air of positivity about the place just now.
“I know a few of their players, they are a good team who have maybe not started the season the way that they would have wanted, but it will be a really tough place to go. They have a very experienced manager and I think we will really need to be at it to get anything from the game.”
The prospect of coming up against former Dunfermline players in John Potter’s Kelty Hearts side will excite the fans on both sides and Aaron added:-
“They have players who have played at a good level and players we have maybe played against. I know Cardle is a fans’ favourite at Dunfermline and he is a good player who will make it tough on Saturday but I am looking forward to the game.”
The 25 year old who joined Dunfermline in May 2019 has played in Fife derbies against Raith Rovers and East Fife and expects the atmosphere on Saturday to be just as buoyant:-
“I think that there will be a good crowd there and they will be looking to start the game well and take us on head to head.
“East End is an ideal place to play your football and we try to keep the tempo up when teams come here and try and frustrate. We will maybe see that away from home the ball is out of play more often and they try and slow it down. That’s fine, we will work around it and keep games high tempo.”
Aaron has played every minute of every competitive game this season and he is looking forward to making it eight out of eight in this Saturday’s league match away to League Two champions, Kelty Hearts. Another win would solidify the Pars position at the top of League One:-
“That positivity I talked about has taken us a long way so far, we have got the three wins through hard work. At times we have not been at our best but it has been the perfect start so far and if we can keep making clean sheets then we are going to give ourselves opportunities in games like last Saturday against Montrose where we kept it tight at the back. We managed to nick a goal that got us the three points.”
