New signing at East End Park
Friday, 22nd Jul 2022A Little addition to the squad
Dunfermline Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of 20 year old goalkeeper Max Little on a 2 year contract, subject to international clearance.
Max joins following a spell at London side Queens Park Rangers and was part of their academy and U23s squad after joining the Loftus Road side at the end of the 2018/19 season.
Fans who attended the U18s friendly against Burntisland Shipyard on Wednesday evening will have seen Max keep a clean sheet in the 4-0 win. He will wear squad number 20 and manager James McPake said that he was immediately impressed by the tall keeper:-
“We had seen footage of him and it didn’t take us very long to realise just how good he was and the potential he has. He is at an age where he is going to improve working under Alan Main and in this environment. He has come from a good club, QPR, and is a real size in the goal.
“Deniz Mehmet has been excellent throughout pre season and the cup games but we did need another goalkeeper at first team level who could add to our squad. Like all signings we are trying to be patient and that’s what we have done but delighted to now have Max over the line.
“People look for different things in a goalkeeper and I now believe at first team level that we have two really good goalkeepers who are big frames in the goal but have different qualities as well.
“Deniz is the older one and vastly experienced. He has been excellent working to what Alan has been asking him to do. I think everyone has seen how good Deniz has been so far in the season, he is enjoying that.
“With Max coming in is what we have been looking for as a staff. Max ticks a lot of the boxes, with his age he is a different profile from Deniz. Even at the age of 29, Deniz is still pretty young for a goalkeeper and even after dislocating his finger earlier in pre season he has done well not to miss a game, other than the friendly against Kilmarnock.
“Max will come in and for the next two years at least, work to develop. We are excited by that because he has a lot of the tools that you look for in a goalkeeper.
“To have two very good first team goalkeepers is really important for the depth of our squad. We have been looking to add and this is the first addition for a wee while. It has to be the right quality and we see in Max that it terms of training and in games that he is the right quality. This is a signing that all the staff are excited about and he will work well with Deniz.”
