A Fife derby opens the Premier Sports Cup campaign for the Pars and this is the match that James McPake and his squad have been working towards.
It was goalless draw the last time Dunfermline met East Fife in this competition on 18th July 2017 it was in the Group stage of what was then called the Betfred Cup.
There have been few recent meeting in this cup competition.
The 2011 tie saw Bobby Linn`s fifth minute opener equalised by Liam Buchanan seven minutes later. But Scott Dalziel goal ten minutes into the second half was enough to win the tie.
The meeting in August 1988 went to penalties and the Pars won through to face Motherwell. The only other Pars successes were in season 1958/59 and the record shows East Fife have won six of the ten meetings.

Allan Johnston’s Dunfermline were the opposition as East Fife played their first competitive match on their new AstroTurf surface. When the match ended 0-0 penalties decided who would win the bonus point and the Pars won 9-8 on penalties.
Dean Shiels, Michael Paton, Nicky Clark, Joe Cardle, Scott Lochhead, Callum Morris, Lee Ashcroft, Ryan Williamson and Callum Smith all converted their penalties before Ben Gordon hit the post.
