Five New Young Recruits
Monday, 13th Jun 2022Dunfermline Athletic are delighted to welcome five new young recruits to East End Park.
The players, four of which are local lads, have signed 2 year modern apprenticeships with the club and have undergone day one of pre season training.
James explained, “I’m delighted to have Calum, Andrew, Sam, Jake and Michael join the first team squad for pre season.
There is nothing better as a manager or a fan than seeing some of your own on the pitch. Training with the first team will give the lads a chance to impress and with hard work and dedication, along with the guidance myself and the staff, we believe we can have a good group of players representing the club in the years to come.”
CALUM ARCHIBALD
GOALKEEPER
Born April 2005 Age 17
Calum joined the Fife Elite Academy as a Dunfermline Athletic registered player in January 2016, signing from Rosyth FC. He attended Queen Anne High School. In the last year he has made a number of appearances with the DAFC reserve squad. He featured on the first team bench in a recent away match at Inverness.
ANDREW TOD
MIDFIELD
Born February 2006 Age 16
Andrew, the eldest son of Pars legend Andy Tod, joined the Fife Elite Academy as a Dunfermline Athletic registered player in March 2016, signing from Kinross Colts. Andrew attended the SFA Performance school at Broughton in Edinburgh though he lives in Kinross. He joined the Hibernian Academy in November 2018, returning to Dunfermline Athletic in May 2021. Over the past months he has trained regularly with the first team squad.
SAM YOUNG
DEFENDER
Born January 2006 Age 16
Sam signed for Dunfermline Athletic in January 2016, coming to the Academy from Bayside FC. Sam is a local lad who attended Dunfermline HS and was part of the successful Dunfermline HS U 18s squad this season. Sam has been playing with an older age group over the past years. This experience has seen him perform well enough to be offered terms with Dunfermline.
JAKE RENNIE
MIDFIELD
Born January 2005 Age 17
Jake joined Fife Elite Academy, coming from Cairneyhill Athletic in December 2015 and was registered to Cowdenbeath FC. When Fife Elite Academy closed in December 2021, he was registered to Dunfermline Athletic. Jake hails from Charlestown and so is another local lad delighted to sign for his home town club. Jake attended Woodmill HS, leaving to take up a post as an apprentice joiner. Being a professional football player was always his ambition.
MICHAEL BEAGLEY
MIDFIELD
Born February 2005 Age 17
Michael spent most of his time in Academy football at Heart of Midlothian FC. When Michael left Hearts he signed for Broxburn Athletic, playing for their first team. Michael comes from Uphall and attended St Margaret’s HS in Livingston. The last year has seen him play for Scotland Schoolboys U18s, playing against Wales, N Ireland and England. After a successful trial period with Dunfermline Athletic U18s, Michael was delighted to accept the offer of a 2 year contract.
