Centenary Club Lifeline Player of the Year Winners
Thursday, 28th Apr 2022The votes have been counted and we have our Centenary Club Lifeline Player of the Year Winners.
Player of the Year:
The supporters have chosen Dom Thomas as their Centenary Club Lifeline Player of the Year for Season 2021-22. The winger has so far made 30 appearances in all competitions for the Pars this campaign, scoring 5 goals and assisting numerous others.
Dom has also picked up the Goal of the Season trophy, for his strike against Raith Rovers during the second Fife Derby of the campaign. The wide-man was delighted to be recognised by the support while receiving these 2 awards, however, insists the biggest award for him this term would be for Dunfermline Athletic to secure their SPFL Cinch Championship status on Friday evening.
Young Player of the Year:
The supporters have chosen Matty Todd as their Joe Nelson Young Player of the Year winner for Season 2021-22. The youngster has proven himself to be a first-team regular this campaign, contributing in numerous positions during the term.
The central-midfielder has shown great versatility in his play to also fill in at right-back and right-centre-half in a back three throughout the season, allowing him to amass 23 appearances in all competitions for Athletic so far this season, with 2 goals to his name. Todd has also received the Management Team Young Player of the Year trophy. The local lad hopes to keep the Pars in the Championship this season, before pushing the Football Club on to further success next term.
Players` Player of the Year:
The players have chosen Dan Pybus as their Gary Riddell Players` Player of the Year for Season 2021-22. The tenacious midfielder has shown his quality throughout the campaign, with the Englishman becoming a fans favourite, as well as a popular team-mate in the East End Park dressing room.
Pybus was a regular under both Peter Grant as well as John Hughes, playing in 36 matches in all competitions. His only goal for the Football Club so far, coincidentally, came against tonight`s opponents the last time the sides met in SPFL Cinch Championship action. Pybus has also won the Management Team Player of the Year trophy. The midfielder hopes to end the season in a positive fashion for the Dunfermline Athletic.
Ross Lindsay, Chairman of the Lifeline noted: “It has been another difficult season for the Pars, but it was no surprise to see that Dom Thomas was voted for by the fans to be our Player of the Year. Dom has always been a fans favourite with his dashing runs, great deliveries and, of course, great goals. He deserves this accolade. Likewise, we all like to see young players come in and develop and Matty Todd winning the Young Player of the Year was a virtual no-brainer. He has never let the team down and despite being moved around the team he always gives his best and he has the potential for a great future in the game. Well done to both players.”
Ross added: “I would like to thank our award sponsors, Dynamic Hair - St Andrews, Barbara Anne Nelson and Kwikco for once again stepping in to sponsor this years awards, it is very much appreciated.”
