Manager on Thursday
Thursday, 10th Feb 202210/02/22: JH - “Always a difficult place to go, Kilmarnock, at the best of times and, Derek`s recruited really well so I’m looking forward to it.”
Dunfermline are away to Kilmarnock on Saturday in the match re-arranged due to the abandonment first time around in December because of fog.
Before the fog had lifted that day Kilmarnock and manager Tommy Wright had parted company and it will be a team under the new management of Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty that Dunfermline will face. Pars manager John Hughes says that he has got great respect for Del and Tony Doc:-
“I`ve come up against them many, many a time - and I`m just delighted that the two of them are back in football. They`re good football people. But, come Saturday, we want to make sure that we`re picking up the three points, albeit it`s away from home, and I think we`re more than capable of doing that.
“I`m always optimistic in this league in terms of I think every team`s capable of beating each other. I`ve said that on numerous occasions, that`s what I`ve found, so we`ll hold no fears in going down to Kilmarnock on Saturday.
“I think Derek`s recruited very well. It`s just a matter of these guys settling in and I`m quite sure, after Arbroath, they`ll wanted to get back to winning ways last night, and then they`ll be looking to take care of business on Saturday. That`s what makes it intriguing, so we`re looking forward.
“We need to put it together for 90 minutes. The inconsistency has been the frustration. We put a lot of emphasis on the young ones in terms of Paul Allan, Toddy, big Lewis - one or two of them have got a rest. They’ll have to come and go again, and these kids playing. The reason I mention them is because they were part of the last time, although it got abandoned.
“What we`re trying to do, and what we keep saying, is just stick to the process. We`ve got a philosophy at the club. Stick to the process, don`t look too far in front of yourself, and have a great faith in the process that, if we`re doing it right, it will win us football matches.
“So that’s what we`re doing. Always a difficult place to go, Kilmarnock, at the best of times and, as I say, Derek`s recruited really well. I`m looking forward to it.”
