Tuesday, 4th Jan 2022Striker pens new deal at East End Park.
DAFC are delighted to announce that twenty year old striker Lewis McCann has signed a contract extension to 31 May 2024. Lewis has begun to establish himself in the first team after starting the last eight Dunfermline matches, and is rightly rewarded. Lewis has made 52 appearances since joining from Fife Elite as an 18 year old.
Manager John Hughes was pleased to get Lewis signed up for a longer period:-
“Big Lewis has done very very well. He has a lot of work in front of him. If he keeps his head down and his feet firmly on the ground to become a better footballer then I think that he has bags and bags of potential.
“I can see him flourishing by getting picked every week, so we are absolutely delighted to get him tied up.”
Lewis was ten years at Hutchison Vale before joining Hearts for a year and then moving on to Fife Elite for two seasons. He played striker at Hutchy, was a left midfielder at Hearts and with Fife Elite was deployed at striker again. He has been in every one of John Hughes starting line ups.
Lewis made six appearances for Northern Ireland at U19 level and three when called up to the U21 squad for the internationals in September 2019.
