Pars need pick up of points
Monday, 6th Sep 2021“Hopefully we can put on a performance on Saturday that we can take into the rest of the season
Twenty one year old Kyle Macdonald has played 60 senior matches, he is just half a game away from completing 5000 minutes in those and his experience tells him that there is a need to re-focus as a group and go out and win the next game. He said:-
“Dunfermline are a big team looking to do good things this season so we should maybe take it one game at a time. If we start picking up results, start playing well, peoples’ opinions change. The only people who can do that is us by playing well, performing well and hopefully starting to win games.”
The defender who was signed on a two and a half years deal from Airdrieonians by Stevie Crawford in January 2021 is the first to admit that it has not been the start to the league that he wanted or the Dunfermline fans wanted. Kyle revealed that the disappointment shown by the fans is shared by the players:-
“I know it might seem strange to say but we feel the same. It hurts when we don’t win, we don’t go on to a pitch not wanting to win. We want to win every game and I go on to the pitch trying to give my all for the team to try and win. It hurts and I understand where they are coming from. I think everyone does.”
By the time they meet Ayr United on Saturday, the Pars will have gone two weeks without a match after conceding 11 goals without reply in the previous three matches.
The abandonment of the match against Raith Rovers has left Dunfermline with just one league point and a gap of 11 points between them and league leaders Inverness Caley Thistle. Kyle knows that there is a dire need to take something away from Somerset Park:-
“We did have a good League Cup campaign before we came up against Rangers who are the best team in Scotland right now. It was going to be difficult but in the group stage we performed well.
“We have got to look to play well and if we do, we will win games. Hopefully we can put on a performance on Saturday that we can take into the rest of the season.”
