O’Hara Omen to defeat Arbroath
Friday, 27th Aug 2021“It’s been a tough last couple of games but we are a confident group and we know that we have the quality.
Kevin O’Hara played against Arbroath four times last season, he scored in three of them and every time the name O’Hara was on the scoresheet, Dunfermline won. So here’s hoping the 23 year old striker gets an early goal on Saturday.
Kevin knows just how difficult opponents the Red Lichties can be especially since they will be well set up and motivated by Dick Campbell, a manager who relishes his visits to East End Park:-
“Arbroath have been in the Championship for the last couple of seasons and they have a real game-plan and are a tough opposition. They are well-drilled and have some excellent players. So, we know it will be a tough game and it’s one we are looking to win.
“They get after you from the first minute, they are in your face right until the final whistle and they make the game really tough. We need to look at where we can exploit that.”
It is a massive disappointment for everyone at Dunfermline to be sitting on just one league point and the abandonment of last week’s match against Raith Rovers compounded that just when things were beginning to look up. Kevin continued:-
“We started well in the Fife derby and looked more like how we did in the cup games. It’s disappointing that they match was abandoned, but we are looking to take that 10-15 minute spell that we had at Raith into Saturday’s game.
“It’s been a tough last couple of games but we are a confident group and we know that we have the quality. We just need to work hard every day in training, make sure that we get the manager’s style right and the way that he wants to play on a Saturday.
“It can take a little bit of time, especially when you have new players coming in the door but the boys now all know the game-plan and it’s about putting that into play.”
Kevin and his team mates are also looking forward to the return of fans for Saturday’s match:-
“It’s brilliant to get the fans back in. Football isn’t the best without them. The atmosphere has been good so far but it’ll be better the more there are. There was a really big crowd at Ibrox to play in front of, and you watch the games down south — it’s just better.”
Kevin started less than half Dunfermline’s league matches last season but after being re-united with Peter Grant who was his manager at Alloa Athletic, he has started every Dunfermline match this season, he added:-
“I want to play every game and this season it has gone well in that regard. There were some frustrating moments last season but I always backed my ability and knew that I would be back in the team eventually.
“I played more towards the end of last season and really pushed over the summer, looking to kick on into this season — and I think I’ve done that so far.
“I did a lot of fitness work over the weeks, just focused on getting myself into really good shape and making sure I was ready to hit the ground running. I think that has benefited me so far but there is a lot of hard work ahead.
“I just put in the miles in my local park — running by myself! We got sent a programme and they track it all through Strava and send it back to the club . . . so there’s no hiding place in that app!”
